Chevrolet Thanks Operation Homefront Caregiver at Army-Navy Game with New 2018 Chevy Traverse

At Lynch Ford Chevrolet, we love being a part of the Chevrolet family, because we take our commitment to community all the way home. And with more than 6,000 veterans employed at GM and more than 50,000 GM retirees who are veterans, Chevy wants to show its gratitude to all those who have volunteered to serve. In December, Chevy focused that gratitude on Shawn Moore and her family in recognition of her work with Operation Homefront.

Hearts of Valor

Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so that they can thrive in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Mrs. Moore not only serves as a caregiver to her husband, Bryan, a United States Army veteran who was medically retired after seven tours and 23 years of service, but she also goes above and beyond serving as an Operation Homefront Hearts of Valor group facilitator.

Operation Homefront’s Hearts of Valor program provides a supportive community for our nation's wounded, ill, or injured servicemembers and the people who care for them. When she’s not already busy serving as a police officer in her Kansas City community, this mother of six and caregiver to her husband spends her time organizing and campaigning for the new program. Chevy recognizes that people like Mrs. Moore do the hard work of helping our service-members find new roads home, and during December’s Army-Navy game, Chevy showed her its appreciation with a brand-new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse.

Showing our gratitude

Braving blizzard-like conditions at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, Mrs. Moore and her family stepped out onto the field in front of 60,000 fans. Dan Akerson, former chairman and CEO of General Motors and a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, presented the Moore family with the new Traverse, and had this to say:

It is so important for us to honor the families of our military service members who are so often confronted with the lifelong care of our wounded veterans. Recognizing Shawn Moore and the exceptional care that she is providing for her husband, Bryan, is a small way for GM and Chevrolet to bring attention to the vital role organizations like Operation Homefront play in the daily support of our military families.

For the eighth year in a row, Chevrolet was proud to serve as the official vehicle of the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA. “We are very grateful for Chevrolet’s exceptional support of the caregivers participating in our highly regarded Hearts of Valor program,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront.
